Jesus on cross stained glass window
What did Jesus do?
Too much to mention in a short blog post! so I’m going to narrow the subject down a bit to what God has been sharing with me in recent days.
Jesus life culminated in His death, berial and resurection.
Life and death
Jesus died so we may live. As we are spiritual beings having an earthly experience, and being spiritual we are also eternal. Life and death in this context is being with or without God. With God is life, without God is death. All that Jesus did could be put in contrast to the actions and consequences of Adam (and Eve). Adam and Eve didn’t know death, spiritual or bodily, when they were in the garden of Eden. Only after they’d sinned, did the consequence have an effect. And there were many consequencies. Tilling the ground, pain in childbirth, sickness and disease, physical death, loss of identity, prupose and authority.
All of these were restored by Jesus, in fact, it’s better now as we have a new convenant.
Through Jesus resurrection, death was defeated, so now we have the option of eternal life (life with God for eternity) or life without God (death). Notice it is an option open to everyone. You just need to accept the offer!
All sin has been forgiven
All sins are forgiven, as Jesus paid the price for them. That is all sins, past present and future. “What if I sin right now, or tomorrow?” Forgiven. God’s grace covers it all. That doesn’t mean to keep sinning, oh no. But as the Holy Spirit, who now dwells inside gets to work, you’ll find that throught the love for God you’ll reduce your sinning and not have a sin conscience. This means that sin just won’t be part of your life anymore. Quite extraordinary. In Romans 6, Paul writes about leading a sinless life, as it is now a choice.
And there’s more
Jesus through His life, death and resurection, fulfilled many propheses. He completed the Law, which means now we are free to recieve the blessings without any of the curses.
There is so much more….
